rando.maEncyclopedia of the Tetouan and Chefchaouen mountains Hike with a guide

About the encyclopedia

rando.ma is a concise guide to the mountains and villages of Tetouan and Chefchaouen provinces: one page per place, with its altitude, tribe, commune and neighbours.

Who is it for?

For hikers, for people from the region, and for anyone who wants to know where a mountain or village is before going there. The content is free, available in Arabic, French and English, and every page links to nearby places.

Where does the information come from?

The ranking of the highest peak of each Chefchaouen tribe is based on 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 topographic maps and on commune maps showing tribal boundaries. Other data (communes, villages, approximate village altitudes) come from local sources about the region. Route figures quoted in the articles (distance, ascent, duration) are those of guide Imad Ben Yahya's hikes published on randonnee.ma.

Altitudes and drawings

Altitudes are approximate and may differ slightly between sources. The contour drawings at the top of pages are illustrations only: they are not maps and show neither the real location of a place nor its shape.

Want to walk these mountains?

The encyclopedia does not run hikes. To walk with a local guide in Tetouan and Chefchaouen, in groups of 1 to 12 people, visit randonnee.ma, mountain guide Imad Ben Yahya's website.
